SageTVServiceControl.exe Missing
Hello,
After restarting my server this morning, the SageTVServiceControl.exe executable file is missing from my SageTV install folder (C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV) and from the SageTV folder in the Start Menu. Also, when I try to launch SageTVServiceControl from a desktop shortcut I get the following error: Could not find JAR file. An exception occured in Java: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: sage/WindowsServiceControl. The service is currently running and the UI on the server and my MVP seem to be working fine. Any suggestions beyond reinstalling Sage? Is it possible to get a copy of this executable file? I'm running V6.3.5 on Windows XP SP 2, Java 1.6.0_03. Thanks. Kevin |

I would upgrade to the latest. 6.3.10. Check to see if the file ended up in the trashcan. (Make a copy of your current directory somewhere.) If not you might have bigger problems because files typically just don't disappear.

For what it's worth:
After backing up Sage.properties, SageClient.properties, and Wiz.bin, I reran SageTV_V6_3_5Setup.exe and chose the Repair option. SageTVServiceControl.exe was restored, and the server UI and MVP worked as they did yesterday. Restoring from the backed up files was not necessary. I'm a little hesitant to upgrade to 6.3.10 since the MVP has been very stable and fast the last 2 months and the WAF is high. I took the opportunity to back up the entire C:\Program Files\SageTV folder to my external drive. Kevin Last edited by KKnox; 05-08-2008 at 11:55 AM. |

Well you can see how easy it would be to go back. If you didn't like the upgrade then just copy the backup you did to your external drive back over the install. Now you're back at your previous version.
