HDHomeRun Reboots XP
I'm a new SageTV user, just recently switching over from MythTV (KnoppMyth to exact). So far everything has gone really smoothly, but I've run into a problem I could find a solution to by searching and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
I have two PVR-150's that work great, and I recently added a HDHomeRun. I can view the channels in VLC fine, and was able to add it into Sage, but when I try to view an HD channel in sage, I see one frame of the stream and my PC reboots. This happens every time. |

I have some more information...
I have an nVidia video card and nVidia nForce chipset.. I reinstalled the drivers for both and it still reboots, but the BSOD showed fltmgr.sys as the problem. This ONLY happens if I try to play HD video in SageTV. Sage can record HD and I can play it back in VLC, but the minute I try to view it in Sage it kills everything. The HD video plays fine of the Placeshifter too |

Yes I have. I don't have any problems with my PSU or temps. This problem only happens in SageTV and is repeatable which to me says it is something to do with Sage. The raw video files play fine in VLC.

No offense, but then you didn't read closely.
According to all the acrticles I read in about a 10 minute span, fltmgr.sys has to do with windows writes to hard drives. If you are getting a BSOD due to that file that windows isn't able to write (or having difficulties) writing to the hard drive. VLC does not write to the hard drive from the HDHomerun, but rather it just plays the stream (this has been discussed within the forums about the differences between Sage and VLC). Sage has to write to your hard drive as it keeps a "buffer"....

Seems Sage is writing the file somewhere.

I tried installing the nVidia Purevideo codec last night, selected it in the setup, but I still got the reboot. |

I am not an expert by any means...
but did you try to change your video renderer in Sage? Could be that the one you are using has some kind of issue. Try another one and see if that solves the issue. |

Thanks for the message... I did try the different video renders in SageTV (I don't recall the names, but I know one was VM9), and even installed a new one (the nVidia purevideo). None of them seemed to make a difference. I haven't done much work in this area, but I would like to get SageTV to use the same renderer as VLC... However, I'm not sure how to know what VLC is using.

I found the problem by analyzing the minidumps from c:\windows\minidump
I had to install the windows debugging tools. These are invaluable for diagnosing system crashes.. I just came across them from google. The actual driver causing the problem was adidts.sys which was my HD audio driver. I downloaded the newest version from my motherboard manufacturer's website (asus) and everything is working well now. |
