XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is out

I have installed XP SP3 on my XPMCE edition system and didn't run into too many issues. I had to re-apply the termserv reghack for concurrent logons and had to set the mce services to disabled again. The SP3 install had reset them to automatic!

Sage not working with SP3

Just installed SP3. Sage goes thru its start-up routine, but then shuts down a second after the main menu appears.

Just started debugging, so no more details yet. Any suggestions?

-Updated to 6.3.10 - No improvement
-Clean install - Restored sage.properties & wiz.bin - Back to business as usual

I upgraded to SP3 over the weekend without a hitch. Took maybe 10min to install.

Just saw this.

Microsoft has delayed the release of a third service pack for Windows XP, blaming a compatibility issue between the software and a retail-chain-management application.

Is that 10 real minutes or 10 Microsoft minutes?

(Note: 1 Microsoft minute is approximately 2.6 football minutes, give or take.)

I always use Microsoft minutes when estimating the time required for an upgrade. Unfortunately my wife still thinks I'm talking about real minutes and always wonders why upgrades take so much longer than I guessed.

Aloha,
Mike

Yes but all they're going to do is filter it so that people using the retail software can't download the update till they have it fixed. So unless you use your Sage machine as a cash register you're probably OK.

And no, just because you keep putting money in it doesn't mean it's a cash register.

Nope, that's 10 real minutes. Don't know what you mean by Microsoft minutes. Whenever I install XP it always starts out telling me it's going to take like 30min to install but only ends up taking maybe 15, if that, I think it's now closer to 10 for a clean install of XP. Of course you have to consider that their installer was based on computers that really did take that long to install and that it's not a real estimation of install time but just preset break points in the installer.

And it just happens to be Microsoft's own software. Microsoft's Dynamics. An ERP and CRM software.

Quote:
However, incompatibilities discovered in the past several days between an application called Microsoft Dynamics RMS and both Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will force the company to hold off on releasing the software. Dynamics RMS is a retail-chain-management software for SMBs.
