good deal on a hard drive
hey, i don't know if posts like this are allowed in here but i can't think of why not, so here goes.

True..but I personally have noticed no degredation of any quality or speed from the standard cache size of 2mb...

There certainly won't be a degradation of the quality of the data you save to your hard drive, but I seem to recall an increase in response on my computer back when I got an 8MB cache drive. (Yes, I realize it could have been my imagination, or due to other things.)
BTW - that is a decent price, but I got the 8MB version of that drive for just a few dollars more at OfficeMax back in Dec. Wait a week & someone will have it on sale again. - Andy

IMHO, If you are only going to use the harddrive for video storage with SageTV, 2MB will be more than enough.
8MB cache disks are faster, but for video it doesn't matter. Unless you have a large amount of encoders and clients, but then you should go with RAID anyway. Personally I'd buy 2MB 5400rpm disks for video storage, but hey, it's hard to get 5400rpm drives nowadays!
