Question To move INFO on the screen closer to the midline

Anybody knows how to move 2 INFO little popup screens (you call it by pushing first time ENTER/OK button while in play mode) on the screen closer to the midline line? I guess I have to edit SAGETV3.xml file....
The reason I am asking about it is to have visible these 2 info popup screens in full while watching SageTV (mostly 16:9 aspect ratio programs) with ZOOMED screen made with 16:9 widescreen TV...
...with regular SAGETV3.xml info goes to much up and down and you can hardly see it.
Thank you.

Sounds like you're using your TV's controls to zoom the image. That's not the best solution. What you want to do is leave your TV in normal mode and adjust the overscan settings in Sage so you can see the entire UI. Then use Sage's aspect ratio controls to zoom the video playback without affecting the size of the UI.

Do you need to just adjust the UI's overscan settings? Go to Detailed Setup -> Multimedia -> Overscan Settings. This controls the placement of the UI -- menus, playback OSD, etc. Video placement/sizing is controlled separately.

Overscan settings

yea... cool... thank you...I ajusted it... hm, kind of didn't get it from the first time using SageTV ))
Yes, I shrank UI... the minus here is the UI;s got smaller... font is hard to read...
now... I don't even know yet what's better... smaller interface relative to the screen or not full shown UI during playback with zoomed with TV screen...
Whould be great to have the maximum UI on the screen and to have two UI screens (upper showing the name of the show and the lower showing the bar) just closer to the midle line, so blowing the screen will leave them visible... how can I do this?

No, I mean zoom the video in Sage instead of using the TV, then the UI will always fill the screen. I believe the link in my sig explains how to do it.

There's no way for Sage to know you're cropping 1/3 of the image off in the TV while zooming (in the TV) so I don't know how Sage would handle it. And FWIW, I think the UI already takes up way too much of the screen.

Question Zooming with Sage on Hauppauge MVP

I failed to zoom with Sage from Hauppauge MVP. Looks like it's impossible. There is no choice to swith to 16:9 Aspect Mode. Well, I found that I can only assign an IR button (but no choices from the UI screen) to "Aspect ratio mode 16:9", well... TV didn't respond... even after I have edited client.properties file manually (there is no choice to modify these settings from the UI on the TV screen):

videoframe/aspect_ratio_mode=3
videoframe/aspect_ratio_mode/3/video_translate_x=-2
videoframe/aspect_ratio_mode/3/video_translate_y=3
videoframe/aspect_ratio_mode/3/video_zoom_x=1.03
videoframe/aspect_ratio_mode/3/video_zoom_y=1.35

so... how do you zoom using Sage on the TV screen with Hauppauge MVP?

Ah, won't work on the MVP, I was assuming you were using a PC.

FWIW, the HD extender will do zooming as well.

You'll have to fire up Studio, and change the y position of the panel for those two panels. They'd be in the Mediaplayer OSD menu I believe.

Unhappy Studio...

failed... from the first shot I failed to edit sagetv3.xml.... not that simple... you gotta spend real time to handle this editor of STV...
lack of specific knowledge... what the upper and bottom panels names?
what to edit!
sucks!... it's not like html editting... unfortunately...
kind of pity to spend so much time on this... even though is a very simple task... to change Y coordinates of two panels... yeah
the only hope... maybe somebody would give just exact directeions what to do... and I will stupidly do

In the "MediaPlayer OSD" menu, there is a "REM Show the various OSD portions." remark. Below that, you will see lines with OSDTopIsOn and OSDBottomIsOn; below them are the "DetailedInfo" and "Controls" panels, whose "Anchor Y" properties you can modify. You may need to reduce the "DetailedInfo" panel's "Fixed Height" property so the areas don't overlap... which will probably end up changing the text size in the top part. Anyway, maybe that will get you started if you want to tweak those things.

Thumbs up Studio

I did it! It worked! Great!
SageTV is so flexible and very good software. I am always amazed with it. The best on the market.
Forum is so interesting. Very often I browse forum simply for the sake of curiosity not having any own questions... well...
thank you very much for good advises and real help.

PS: I set "DetailedInfo" and "Controls" to .33 and 1.43 correspondingly, so it's in full vision with TV zoomed screen.
