Setting up New Router this Sunday, few questions
This weekend, I am upgrading my existing ancient D-Link router to a brand new TrendNET TEW633GR. This is virtually the same router as the D-Link DIR-655. Since it has been so long, I have a few questions:
1. I totally forget what I need to do as far as ports i need to open or things i need to enable. Can anyone who has either of these routers let me know what you did during setup to allow for Sage to work with a HD Extender. 2. Also are there any settings that anyone see's here: http://www.trendnet.com/emulators/TE.../Internet.html (simulator of setup of the router) that would be good to use? Thanks for any help! ~Brian Last edited by VikingCrown; 04-24-2008 at 05:06 AM. Reason: Being more specific |

I don't have that particular router, but I didn't have to do anything to get the HD Extender to work on my networking using a Trendnet router.

I don't have that router so I can't get specifict but you shouldn't need much of anything to enable access from within the network such as from your server to an extender or another computer connected to the same router. Just plug them in. The setup program should handle the internet connection setup.
Now if you use placeshifter or the web interface then you'll want to create a static IP for your server (probably a good idea anyway). You can open the ports through the router firewall and forward them to the Sage server but the router should support uPnP in which case Sage can open the ports itself. Just make sure the uPnP support is turned on in the router if that's an option. As always make sure you set up your security settings. You may want to go into your existing router and jot down any settings in there, such as open ports and port forwarding. Then you can set up the new router with the same numbers.
