Question SageTV client freezes/hangs/unresponsive

Hi all,

I'm trialling the Mac SageTV client (v6.2.10 on OSX Tiger 10.4.11, Macbook 2GHz C2D, 2GB RAM) at the moment, and am experiencing a problem where the client will become unresponsive for minutes at a time when using the media centre to browse videos. The client seems to hang for anywhere between a couple and 10+ minutes each time.

Once it responds again, I can select and play a video which appears to work normally. Go back to browsing videos, or switch between view options, and it will hang again.

When it hangs, the SageTV process on the Mac is only idling (~2% CPU) and the SageTV backend server (licensed SageTV Media Centre 6.3 on WinXP Pro SP2) is also idle (0 - 2% CPU). So it doesn't look like it's becoming resource-bound, it just stops responding for a while.

Is anyone else having similar problems with the Mac client? I was excited to see that a Mac client is available, but if it's still buggy then I guess I'll wait for stability before I purchase a client license.

Thanks,

Jessica

Angry

*bump*

I've uninstalled/reinstalled the SageTV client (deleting all extraneous files too) but now the UI doesn't initialise at all. Has anyone else had a similar problem? The process is running, but I don't get even the splash screen.

TIA,

Jessica

Is the network card or cable going bad? Can you test by copying files from the server to your client?
