More Freezes

Greetings all,

Before I send in a support request I want to see if anyone else is experiencing this problem.

I am running the current version of Sage, the current version of Java etc. See my sig below for specifics.

Here is the issue, whether using the MC STV or the Sage STV anytime we go to play a DVD in sage it will start playing fine, a few minutes into the video it will freeze for 2-4 minutes then bam it will start playing 16x normal speed, pressing play will sometimes stop the fast forwarding sometimes not. Its really odd.

I am also getting some Java exception errors that may or may not be contributing to the problem.

The other issue occurs after scanning the import folders then going to the guide or to the DVD folders the unit will lock and the log will begin to fill with these type of errors.

Fri 4/4 10:56:17.654 EventThread-00085c53a2c8 Hang Detected - hang time = 9158

Chime in if you are experiencing these type of problems.

Thanks

I have the exact same issue. I've tried re-booting the extender and the server and everything else I can think of. Running HDMI out to the TV (using the TV speakers for audio). I only this extender a 30-60 minutes a day as this one is in my exercise room.

It was also stuttering significantly this morning while my wife was watching Live TV.

WAF is falling for the extender in my household. Quoting her "I really like the way you have everything set up when it works, but it is really annoying to not be able to watch live TV for more than few minutes without major stuttering occurring. Maybe we should just get a cable box in here"

Please help! I can't go back to a cable box!

Here is some more information.

Lockups have now become more frequent, in fact I had to do a hard boot of the extender just a few minutes ago. I.E. Shut off the switch on the back and wait 25 seconds before starting back up.

When playing DVD's and ff-rw the picture will freeze, no errors in the sage event log, you have to go back to the DVD menu, pick a scene and then it will play normally. Sometimes it will just stop playing the DVD, hang for 2-3 minutes and then continue on.

After running a media scan it really gets slow, I usually wait a couple of minutes after doing the scan before doing anything else.

What is weird is the other unit we have which is the SD unit has no such problems, and like I said the only error I get is that hang error.

I need to send this to sage support, but I have nothing in the log that will back up what I am seeing.

Update: I have turned off logging for the time being-seems to have really sped things up. We will see how it does in the long run.

Update:

Moved my SageTV server installation over to my W2k3 server and for the last two days it has been blisssssssss....

This is how a home entertainment system should operate

I will see how this does in the long run, but for now all of my issues have been fixed
