Re-tuning breaks video into multiple files
Software Version: SageTV V6.3.10.1
Java Version: 1.5.0_10 & 1.6.0_05 Tuner: HDHomeRun (20080305) I had SageTV installed and running on Gentoo 2006.1 flawlessly. I have since re-installed SageTV on openSuSE 10.3 (64-Bit) -- 32-Bit Java -- and have encountered a few glitches and bugs, which is probably to be expected. There is however one issue that I would really like to resolve because it is interfering with comskip's functionality. Lately, when recording files, SageTV breaks up the videos into roughly 600MB chunks. After looking through the logs, it has become evident this is due to Sage re-tuning the channel. Code:
HDHRCaptureDevice->doTuneChannel(36-12-1,true) The signal strength rarely drops below 83%, so Sage shouldn't need to re-tune the station. Code:
ch=8vsb:36 lock=8vsb ss=83 snq=100 seq=100 bps=19394080 pps=1842 I have disabled the "Always tune channel" option to no avail. EDIT: I know mencoder can merge video files. I'm having difficulty keeping the file in an MPEG format while using -ovc copy as I don't want to waste time transcoding. Concatenating files results in broken timestamps/indices. Video was recorded in HD (1080i) content [MPEG2-PS @ 5.9 GB/hr] Last edited by Vox-uLaw; 04-05-2008 at 09:29 PM. Reason: Additional info |

UPDATE
I found an older version (6.3.5.1) which doesn't have the issues 6.3.10 experiences.
It seems version 6.3.9+ doesn't work too well with OpenSuSE 10.3 64-Bit. * I've submitted my findings to SageTV support, hopefully there'll be a resolution. Last edited by Vox-uLaw; 04-14-2008 at 03:11 PM. Reason: Fixed grammar mistake. |

RESOLVED
UPDATE: Resolved
*Posting resolution for future forum reference. Sage support got back to me with a fix. Recordings are now contiguous files. Excellent support. |

What type of recordings are you doing with your 64bit machine?

Digital HDTV OTA showings; most are 1080i, a few 720p.
For example: Bones, Law & Order, Numb3s, Smallville, Supernatural; I record a lot more, though don't really watch them all. Mainly just to test SageTV and comskip; the more material, the better I can tune comskip. Last edited by Vox-uLaw; 04-14-2008 at 03:12 PM. Reason: Corrected grammar mistake. |
