I have to stop reading this thread, too many posts of "I have mine and it's great" and I'm going to have to order one too!
So I either need to find a way to hide a thread in the forums or you all need to lie to me and tell me it sucks so I don't add this to the CC bill which is already weighed down under the extender I just bought.

Awesome... I will have mine on Tuesday... well, actually, I will have two. My boss has one coming as well, but he doesn't have a Sage Server setup yet, so I will have to make sure his works! Hope I can get two going.

no text -- I though Hauppage shipped my package by ground, but actually now that I look up "ups saver" on the website it looks like its next-busniess-day which is cool.

Alright, I'm finally up and running! Watching TNTHD right now on my HD100 and it looks great. Now that I have a second to breathe, let me recount what I just went through... 1. Went to Comcast to exchange my HD-DVR box for a regular HD box. (They installed the DVR box initially, but I wasn't using the DVR, and wasn't being charged for it until 2 months ago, then a $12.95 DVR fee mysteriously appeared on my bill... Anyway, that is another rant...) 2. Installed new Comcast box and HD PVR in my media closet. 3. Installed newest HD PVR drivers (thanks SHS) and software. 4. Started both HD100's updating to the latest beta firmware. 5. Updated to latest Sage beta. 6. Installed latest TS splitter. 7. Started tuner configuration and channel setup. This step took me about 2 hours... I tried using the channel lineup from my HDHR, which was a bad idea. The channel re-maps that I have in there seemed to confuse things between the PC and the cable box (using Hauppauge blaster). I managed to see the capture from the HD PVR via the "View" button in channel setup, but the picture was extremely choppy, and there was a loud hum in the audio. I'm pretty sure the hum is due to a grounding problem on my outlet, but I was able to fix that by switching to using optical audio. (I was using RCA's initially because I couldn't find a spare audio cable and didn't want to waste time looking!) Even still, I went through a period when I didn't seem to be getting any audio from the cable box. This seemed to be fixed by a reboot of my server. (I'm not 100% sure though, I rebooted everything about 5 times during this process, so...) Once the audio problem was fixed, I tried viewing more channels, but the video was still very choppy. Once I chose a new channel lineup (neighboring city) and viewed the video full screen, the choppiness went away. So that's where I am currently. I still have to go through the channel lineup and make sure everything is correct there. My particular setup makes things difficult. My server closet is upstairs without a TV in sight, and my server is running headless. So, I had to keep running downstairs, trying stuff on the TV, going back upstairs, checking connections, going downstairs and VNCing to the server, etc etc etc. Needless to say I worked up quite a sweat. As I have been watching TV for the last 10 minutes, I heard a few hiccups in the audio stream, a slight pause in the video, and a bit of tearing at one point. Not sure if its due to the HD PVR or a crappy signal from Comcast. Alright, I need to relax for a minute... -Dan |

Cool! Thanks for the prelim. report. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of the quality vs. the original coming from the box, if you can compare that directly. Also, I wonder what bit-rate you're using? Hoping the max looks nearly indistinguishable from the original.
Enjoy! -Chris |

Here are some screen shots of the HD PVR configuration settings. I accessed these through the ARCsoft Total Extreme recording software. Not sure if these settings stick after you set them, though.

You guys are in for a treat once you get them. I've been testing one at home and it was an setup and has worked flawlessly since the install.
The only real issue for me has been that I don't have many HD channels available with my current service. I will be upgrading my service soon. On the other hand, almost all my girlfriend's favorites are on HD channels we receive. From the first show she watched, she was hooked. I had to bring in the HD-PVR for testing at one point and she was not happy about it. Luckily I was able to take it back home after two days. It's also really nice having control over the recording qualities.

Is there a installation guide for SageTV somewhere? I like how the HDHR site has specific setup instructions for SageTV and other apps.
CyRex and George, I'm curious to how well the IR blaster worked? Is it supported straight out of the box with the latest SageTV beta?

As for the IR Blaster, it was a snap. It is the only IR blaster I am currently using, but Sage found it without any issue. That was arguably the easiest part of the setup... -Dan |

My HD100 seems to playback the stuff ok but my client that I can usually play 1080p x264 stuff everything is kinda blurry/slowmoish. I've tried CoreAVC, Arcsoft Video Decoder, the Cyberlink h264 decoder all with similar results. This is on a client machine with an athlon 64 3000+ and an ATI 2600 HD. |

Has anyone experience any kind of conflict if you have another TV Card install on your PC?
I also have a DVB-S card. Just wonder if theirs been any problems, don't want it to mess with my other Card or can only use one or the other. |
