Cluster Size Questions

If you've formatted your hard drive originally with the default cluster size, and then do a quick format, specifying 64K cluster sizes, does the quick format change the cluster size? Is there a way to tell what the current cluster size is? Thanks.

You can use chkdsk to see the 'allocation size' it reports, or use the size utility I added to the downloads section of the forum to report file sizes & cluster sizes.

BTW: there are utilities, such as from Acronis, for changing the cluster size w/o losing existing data on the drive partition.

Thanks for the quick reply. I also found this thread that shows the defrag utility reports cluster size:

Turns out the quick format does change cluster size. Also turns out that I need to defrag my disks.
