Multiple set "Sync"

I'm not sure if this has ever been discussed before (so forgive me if it has), but has Sage ever considered the idea of being able to synchronize playback between multiple clients/extenders connected to the same server?

It would be nice to sync up two or more connections (one in the livingroom and one in the bedroom for example) so that if I was going from room to room, both sets play the same show at the same time. This could also apply to listening to music and having it synced up between rooms.

I assume all that would be needed for this would be some kind of proxy server that the Sage server would play through, and multiple clients could connect to.

Thoughts?

The usual way of doing that is with a video distribution switch like they use in TV showrooms to play the same movie on multiple screens.

Sage is designed to do just the opposite. Each client or extender gets its own independent stream with its own controls for pausing and rewinding. So I'm guessing cross-client synchronization is a non-trivial change that would require redesigning the clients, which seems particularly problematical for MVP and HD100 clients.

The best way to do this is via cable modulator. I have a cable modulator that injects any content being played back on my living room TV into the cable feed so that other TV's in the house can tune to channel 77 to see the same, simultaneous content. Main use for this is: Watch movie, show or (listen to) music on Living Room TV then go into adjacent kitchen, turn on that tv to 77 and see the exact same movie, show, music on the kitchen TV. Timing and sound are all in sync and the cook of the house is happier.
