PBS HD

I get a PBS channel in HD, and they NEVER say what channel it is. I think it is some kind of national PBS HD feed. I can't find any scheduling information on it.

Not really expecting any answer here. I've done a lot of searching, and it seems only a few of us get it, and no one really knows what it is. It DEFINITELY is not my local PBS channel in HD.

QAM cable or OTA?

Maybe try calling the cable company and asking them what channel it is?

Is it on all the time? It could be a Video on Demand channel with someone watching PBS.

PBS HD is a Clear QAM channel on my cable system. Last time I called the cable company, the rep did not even know what Clear QAM was. I pay about $15 a month for basic cable, and the cable company sends all these great Clear QAM channels, one of which is PBS HD. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I don't want to rock the boat by calling them. For a couple of weeks, they even sent HBO HD down the pipe unencrypted. That was a treat.

Doing some Googling, I found reference to a national PBS HD feed, and this is probably what I have. They have a lot of music shows, yesterday one honoring James Taylor. It had Bruce Springsteen and Keith Urban on the parts I caught. Some of the documentaries they show are beautifully shot, but I never know what is coming up.

Basically, I would love it if I can get STV to have EPG for this PBS HD channel, but I'm guessing that is either difficult or impossible.

PBS HD is clear QAM for me also. I'm on Comcast and pay for HD. I actually have 4 x PBS stations. 2 of the PBS are HD, 1 is digital but SD and the fourth is analog HD. If you cable company carries it I would imagine it would have to have some guide number for it. Of course the guide number is going to be higher than what you have access to. Mine is 240.

Is your PBS HD associated with some station? For example, does it have pledge drives? Mine is just generic PBS HD, with absolutely no station identification.

Too bad we can't add a station a la carte, but we need to add an entire lineup. What's up with that?

There is a Sage PlugIn that I think you might be interested in. It's called the STV Import: Favorite Channel Lists. It allows you to customize the EPG display to show only the channels you want to see. It does not effect which channels have been "enabled" in Sage, so you can still view, record, etc those channels that have been enabled, but you might not want to see in the on-screen EPG guide.

Check out the thread here:

Very nice plugin. Looks like it hides channels and regroups channels it doesn't hide, but it doesn't add a channel that isn't in the lineup. Oh well.
