Hauppauge HVR-1800?

What experience have people had with the Hauppauge HVR-1800? I'm considering switching from my dual ATI 650 capture cards to two HVR-1800 cards (I'm not happy with the spotty support from ATI, and, from the system requirement page, it looks to me like the HVR-1800 is more of a "supported" solution for Sage).

And as long as we're asking questions about this card, I'm wondering exactly how those "two" tuners work. is it going to perform like two tuners? or is it really just one tuner than can handle either analog or digital?
thx

It is truly 2 tuners per card. You can record two shows at the same time with this one card (including one HD and one SD). One is an ATSC tuner for QAM or OTA. So with 2 cards you have 4 tuners and can record 4 shows at the same time.

By the way, the 1800 is a PCIe card, so make sure you have two available. If not, the HVR-1600 is the same card for PCI (sans FM tuner).

I'm still interested in hearing about people's experiences with the card. Does anyone use it with Sage? How good is the capture quality in SD?

I have two of these in one PC and another in a second PC. Been very happy with the HD quality, even though the set-up for QAM took a lot of trial and error. SD is SD. Maybe it's not as good as the PVR-150 they replaced, but now that I'm watching HD maybe SD just looks worse to me in general. It's decent, and far better than the sh*tty PVR-500 that one of them took the place of.

Out of the three 1800 I suspect one of them is at fault for some recent corrupt recordings, but I haven't fully diagnosed that yet. (UPDATE: Now more likely a drefragging issue with the drive, 1800 cards seem fine)

I love the PCIe factor, as I've never had any other use for those slots.

Can anyone offer opinions of these HVR cards versus the HDHomerun box on WinXP?

I have patiently suffered with my myHD card for long enough. Ready to have a SageTV solution for QAM over cable...

I have had no problems with my Hauuppauge PVR card but since there seem to be two choices for QAM, I now have to choose...
