How to structure DVD storage/import

I've tried to follow Appendix I, but I can't seem to get my storage set up so that I can view a DVD. I have a dvd that I created the VIDEO_TS from it. I also have setup a media directory on E:\SageTV. However, when I use the import option, it doesn't find anything. Is there a special structure I'm missing? For example, if I want to store movie1, movie2, and movie3, then it seems from the manual that I'd want the following directories E:\SageTV\movie1\VIDEO_TS, E:\SageTV\movie2\VIDEO_TS and E:\SageTV\movie3\VIDEO_TS. I've also moved the movie to the \\localhost\VIDEOS folder on my WHS box. Sage is setup to look there by default, but no luck.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

John

Is E:\SageTV a video import directory? DId you tell it to refresh the imported media? The DVD files as shown in Appendix I exist?

yes, it exists. I told sage it was the video import and I pressed the refresh multiple times. They do exist as in Appendix I, except for the folder.jpg - I haven't figured out how to get that when I rip it.

Thanks for any thoughts.

John,

E:\sagetv directory is where sagetv places the recorded programs. Any ripped DVD files placed in E: drive will not be visible from sage client software.

The proper way to store and view DVDs in your case is, since you are running SageTV for WHS, you will need to place your ripped dvd into your WHS pooled drive under shared\videos. In Sage configuration for Media Center import directories, delete the current settings, \\localhost\videos, etc., then add new directory \\Server\Videos for videos \\Server\Music and \\Server\Photos. Do refresh Imported Media and wait few minutes, your DVDs should display in SageTV videos.

Thank you. I ended up not needing to change to \\Server\Videos, since I have sage on my WHS. However, I did need to change the setting in the sage server.

Thanks again,

John
