HDHomerun - Not seein' nothin'!

I just installed my HDHomerun, and I can't seem to get any QAM channels on my cable connection, or ATSC OTA channels. SageTV didn't find any channels on either connection, too. I did get 20+ ATSC OTA channels using the same antenna and my ATI HD 650 Combo USB tuner.

While scanning, it seems like the HDHomerun sees some strong signals occasionally, but the signal strength indicator in the HDHomerun setup is always white (their website said it should go green), even @ 100%.

Is there something wrong with the HDHomerun? Or, is there something that I need to change with my router?

Thanks!

AzJazz

What kind of input is connected to the HDHR, OTA or QAM?
Did you follow these instructions, http://www.silicondust.com/wiki/hdhomerun/instructions?

Actually, I have tried both QAM and OTA. Neither one seems to work (although I see 100% signal strength on some OTA channels).

Yep, I followed the Silicon Dust instructions (again). No luck.

So, I tried something different. Instead of connecting to my wireless router, I connected directly to one of the spare network connectors on my motherboard. Now, I'm seeing some channels - Sort of!

What the heck is going on here? Is there something I need to do to my router?

With the HDHomerun connected directly to my PC, I can see some QAM channels detected by the HDHomerun Setup program, but SageTV isn't finding anything.

What the heck is going on here?

From what you've posted, can I assume a couple of things?

1. You've eliminated any splitters or amps from you cable connection, and running direct to the HDHR?
2. The few channels you do see in VLC (via the setup gui) are weak?

The first thing we need to determine is whether you can pick anything up clearly using just the HR setup and VLC.

Thanks for the info, guys -

I removed my software firewall (Sunbelt Personal Firewall), and I started to see HDHR channels in SageTV. Even with the firewall shut down, I didn't see the channels. I guess I'll have to use a different firewall.

I also updated the software - Thanks, kevine!
