Shaw digital box & USB-UIRT

I read other threads where this topic was discussed & I thought I'd set it up properly but apparently not. I've got a Shaw box. I hooked up the composite cables to a Hauppauge PVR-500 and a coax from before the Shaw box to the coax connecter on the PVR-500. I listed the 1st connection as composite with USB-UIRT for channel tuning. It seemed like it worked. If I chose a basic channel to watch it would use tuner #2, if I chose the movie channels it went to tuner #1 (you can tell which tuner is working because the composite/digital tuner shows the channel/show selected at the bottom of the screen). But when I recorded two shows at one time the tuner #1 show (composite hookup) just sat on whatever channel it was on & recorded. I'm not sure what else there is to specify to get it tune in that tuner. I understand the USB-UIRT should do it, but when it's programmed to record there is no USB-UIRT input. Any suggestions?

That's a dual tuner card. But you need to make sure that you are NOT using the composite connection on the same tuner you have the cable connected to. The composite connector on the card is associated with tuner 1 I believe. So connect the coax to tuner 2 and reconfigure.

There is only one coax connector and it appears that when you connect the composite connection that becomes tuner 1 and the coax (which can be tuner 1 & 2) defaults to tuner 2. So that all works fine. I can receive shows from both tuners. The issue has to do with controlling the Shaw box. I think I've got the channel changing worked out by changing the RepeatCount line in the USB-UIRT config file to 5. It seems the problem wasn't that my USB-UIRT wasn't controlling/changing the channels, it was just too slow. So to change to channel 60 it would key in 06 and before it keyed in the 2nd 0 the channel would go to 6 on the tuner. By making the RepeatCount shorter (it was 10) it seems to change the channel more accurately.
