I can't seem to find the answer to this...I run SageMC and am wondering if there's a way to copy my client config over to the extender? Sucks having to remember all the custom configs I've done and set them up individually.

If you are running SageMC v6.3.7+, then the easiest way is to use the new import/export functions for SageMC settings.
  • Look in Settings >> Main. Export your SageMC properties to a file.
  • If it is on a separate client, then copy the file to your server (and make sure you have all of the same plugins installed on your server as well).
  • Then import the file into SageMC on your extender.
That should pretty much be it.

Aloha,
Mike

Thanks, Mike. I'll give that a whirl!

Wouldn't it be great...

Consider this a feature request...

Wouldn't it be great if you could save your SageMC configuration to a location on your server where it would AUTOMATICALLY sync all clients? SO when you update one client, all others would be updated automatically!!!

BTW: when you start using a new extender, a new properties file for it is created in the 'clients' folder on the server. The default values for any property setting it tries to retrieve comes from the server's sage.properties, so if you have all your preferred settings in that file, all new extenders will automatically be set to use those values.

Or, if you already have 1 extender configured & you add another, you could simply copy the old extender's properties file & rename the copy to use the mac address of the new extender. That is on the bottom of the unit, or just connect it once, turn it off, and use the filename it created.

SO if you update the sage properties file updated, you can just delete the extender properties files to let it re-sync to the latest.

That should be pretty easy to manage.

What about full clients?

Well, that depends on whether you've customized things on the extender that you don't want to reset, such as the overscan settings for UI placement. But, deleting just the extender's properties relating to what you want to reset could do it, if it doesn't end up being too tedious.

They use their own properties files & don't get all their defaults from the server.
