Sky automatic power on
I would like to be able to make sure that my Sky box is on when Sage tries to tune a Sky channel and I thought all I had to do was send a power on command as a prefix to every channel change on Sky, but when I used the "learn new command" feature I could not get Sage to accept the Sky "on" code. The problem seems to be that the "on" code from the remote is not transmitted continuously while the button is held, unlike the number codes. It only lasts a second or so, which does not give Sage time to learn it.
Has anyone found a way to do this? |

You need to send the Sky blue button command as the power command will also turn it off.
Give me 2 ticks and I'll post the remote codes for the sky box and the sky plus box. Last edited by doc; 02-05-2008 at 03:28 PM. |

There are my 2 IR files.
You'll have to rename them to change the .txt to .ir You could always use your own .ir files and add the entries for 'Sky'. Then add the 'Channel change prefix code' as 'Sky' for the tuners(s) skydigi.ir is for the Skydigi box skyplus.ir is for the SkyPlus box. |

Just out of interest. What do you have the button press delay set to for your USBUIRT?
If you issue the power on command it is likely to be at least 5-10 seconds before the box powers up enough to accept a channel change command. I'm thinking 10 seconds a button X 4 buttons(1 power on+3 digits) = 40 seconds to change channel = a long time especially if you are doing a bit of channel surfing.

I'm pretty sure the sky box will timeout during a channel change if you wait 10 seconds between each digit.
Remember that the sky box is in a soft-power off condition, so you shouldn't need to add an extra delay. I know the IR files I attached in the earlier post work for me. The first line is as follows. Skydigi 0 0 3 33 4000 The first line is the name as it appears in sage. I'm not sure what the others are exactly, one of them is the delay in milliseconds I think, but my sage box is in bits at the moment so I can't check, but the settings definately work for me. btw, I got those values from someone else on a post from last year, so didn't do any experimenting with them myself. |

I left those settings at default and it works fine. I had already tried this manually using the Sky remote directly, pressing the power on(Sky), then 3 channel buttons as quickly as I could and it worked. As a matter of interest, I tried to decrease the delay to see how fast I could get channels to change, but it seemed to have no effect ie the delay did not change. I thought that was a bit odd.
