AMD CPU's that successfully transcode HD to MVP

I upgraded my Sage box to an Athlon X2 5200 with 2GB memory a few weeks back.

Its still not able to transcode on the fly to my MVP's.

I know that people can transcode ok using Intel Q6600, E6850 and E6750, but I was wondering if anyone with an AMD can transcode successfully?

No, I can't either. I can transcode a recorded HD file, but not on the fly. Lots of stutter and hicks

This is with an A64 X2 4200+, 1 gig DDR 400, SATA hdd 64k blocks,Win Xp.

I am also able to transcode on the fly to an MVP, I have an AMD X2 5000 Black box edition.
I have not tried to go to 2 MVPs at once. Just a single MVP. What are your specs according to CPUz? Mem speed and HT link?

I can run an HD feed to my MVP as it is recording. Specs are below. (Note that the server procs are only 1.8 GHz)

A64 X2 @2.2Ghz here (4000+ X2 or something?)
I can transcode HDHR HD content to 2 MVP's. It uses a almost all of the cpu doing 2.

Why are you not able to transcode HD? CPU reaches 100% and its jerky or does it just not play.

However i cannot really ff / rw hd streams on the MVP.

Its really jerky and the audio is garbled. The CPU goes to 50% utilised - so one core is maxed out. I'll check the settings on Friday when I get home and see if I've set something wrong.

I only have one HD channel, BBC-HD, so its not really a big problem, but I have to sit at my desk to watch stuff rather than chilling on the sofa or on the bed.

I swapped my processors over so that the sage machine is now the 5600 and my desktop the 5200.

I get the same results trying to transcode to the MVP.

I'm guessing its more to do with the format the BBC uses rather than my PC.

I had this issue too, and then I upgraded my video card to an 8600GT and loaded the latest Sage RC. One of those two items (probably Sage) resolved the issue over here.

I know this sounds basic, what resolution are you trying to transcode at? Standard or High quality? At Standard My CPU hits around 30% when I switch it to high my CPU usage is at 50%.

I've tried both. Even at standard the cpu is at 50%, one core fully utilised.

The spec of BBCHD is

Video: H.264, 1440x1080, 20Mbps average, 25fps
Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1. 48kHz, 384kbps

thats the only info I've been able to find. I don't know what spec you have on the other side of the pond.

My normal pc client can play it back ok, but then I can't watch TV from bed

I know that the server in my sig can't do local playback or MVP transcoding of HD material. Takes it over 2hrs to compress a 1hr show to dvd std.
