Have you installed the network optimization patch on the Hauppauge site?

What's the best way to avoid running an ethernet cable accross your house for this thing? Seems like 802.11g bridges are around $100, which sort of shoots the price point.

Since the MediaMVP is an ethernet device you really only have four connectivity choices:

1. Dedicated hardwiring (i.e Cat5e, Cat6, etc.)

2. Wireless (11b, 11a, 11g)

3. HomePNA (ethernet over existing telephone wiring)

4. HomePlug (ethernet over existing electrical wiring)

I personally haven't used HomePNA or HomePlug but what I've heard hasn't been good i.e., slow and subject to interference from other devices (telephones and appliances).

Thanks....I guess I'm asking if there is anything more reasonably priced in category #2... closer to $50 than to $100.

Oops! I completely misread your post!
I don't think you'll find a 11g wireless bridge for anything less than $80. You can get a 11g PCMCIA card for around $50 but to use it you'll have to get something like the Prismiq.

The reason is that the version that does the changes is a slightly older code base. SHS has put out a new one and I've got my own code which I think is better then the other one and I'll add it to the SHS base.

If you can hang on a day or two I'll test it to make sure it integrates well and release it in the forums.

Cayers,
Wondering what ever happened to this?

Sorry, haven't touched it. A "small" contract job landed in my lap that I'm putting all my "extra" time into at the moment (capture, editing, transcoding and streaming). Once I get this finished I'll jump back on the MVP thing.

BTW, this isn't something that is very hard to do. If you've ever worked with HTML, you can probably do this. On the forum there are two different MVP "skins". All you really need to do is combine the two into one "skin".

If no one has done this, then I'll tackle it after I get done my project.

I am pretty sure Cayers is talking about the user created BTV skins for the MediaMVP. No users have taken up the initiative to do one for Sage yet (that I know of). This is probably because of SageClient and the before mentioned Frey client possibly coming at some point.

Having a fully functional "Live TV" client in the MVP now though would breath a little life into my BTV installation .

Yeah, I really don't care about access to Live TV in an MVP client.

I wold just like to see the rest of the features from Sage Client offered.

Like Guide Access, Recordings List access, watch recording, set recording as watched.

If I could do that from the MVP, then I would be perfectly happy. In fact, if I could just set what I watch as 'watched' in SageTV, then I would be happy.

In v2, how DO you set your files as watched??

Highlight the recorded show in Sage recordings, press the right arrow or ctrl-i to get to the information screen (Recording Details) and select "Set Watched".

Or, even simpler: highlight the show & press ctrl-w to toggle the "watched" status.

Edit: I forgot one... simply watch the show all the way through.

Either by watching them or selecting "Set Watched" from the Recording Details screen.

I know that by watching them I can 'set' the flag. As I use my system solely for the recording functions (and use my MediaMVP as the front end...), I rarely watch a file from within Sage.

Ctrl-W works... I'm just too lazy/impatient to wait for the mouse functions... :-)

Just wondering if anyone has an update on the status of the MediaMVP client for Sage ...

I mean there are over 50 posts in this topic, but not one comment from Jeff or Dan It will be really nice to get some official word on this ... even if the word is "no immediate plans" or "after the first 2.0 release" or something along these lines that is at least semi concrete

There was a comment long back that Hauppauge was supposed to release a MediaMVP API for developers to create their custom interfaces. Anyone know the status of this ? Is the API available now ? Can anyone use it or do you have to be a registered developer ?

I think they did say MVP development would need to wait until SageTV 2.0 is out the door.

I do not believe that Hauppauge has released any API yet. They did release most of the source code for the box however but I'm not sure it's the current version.

File Currently Being Recorded

--- You can't piont your "sagetv" skin to a liveTV file that is always the same like in Beyond...you would have to search around and find the partially created file for whatever show you are watching.

Deadbolt---

I'm new to Sage TV. I have a MediaMVP I have not hooked up yet and I have a question about the that statement. When I'm recording a program, I cannot play open the file being recorded by any application other than Sage TV. How would the MediaMVP be different than say trying to open it with Windows Media Player? When I try to open the "live tv file", Windows Media Player says that the file is currently in use and can't open it. Would the Media MVP still be able to open it?

Thanks,

Bob.
