MediaMVP
Could you tell me what your plan is relative to the MediaVP.
Thanks |

I second this request... are we looking at a number of weeks or months until MediaMVP support (even in beta)?

I'd guess it will be sometime after 2.0 is released (ie not beta).

With sub showing a *VERY* good MVP client for his latest release of BG-PVR, it shows that producing a client for Sage could be done. I know that this is old news as far as it actually being looked at, but is there a timeframe for Sage users to see this?
I believe that Sage was one of the first companies to talk about a client for the MVP unit, and now we have clients (albeit beta...) for BG_PVR and a halfway decent 'skin' for BeyondTV (BeyondTVjr) from SHS. I'm not bitching... merely ... (ok maybe I am a bit...) :-) -Jason

I know...I love 2.0....but a $60 real client (even the BeyondTV skin can watch liveTV...just not change channels) is enough to get me to sniff around elsewhere.

Where did you get that price? A Sage TV client costs $29.95.

I think the $60 he is referring to is for the MediaMVP w/rebates. If you can't change channels, how much better is the BTV interface than just using the built in interface to watch Sage recorded shows?

I am waiting until someone comes out with a client for the MVP before jumping on it. Just listing MPG's from a network drive does not cut it for me.

I know what you mean about the desire for a cheap fully functional frontend. Right now the best one I know of is a hacked xbox running a frontend to Myth. With refurb xboxes going for $130, it's a pretty cheap client. It works well but is hardly a mainstream product.
But the only reason that implementation exists was because of an open source effort to make it happen. Tens if not hundreds of programmers efforts are going into Myth. Sage only has a couple guys working on the entire product! There are limits as to what 2 humans can do. Thanks, Mike |

The Beyond skin makes it wife compatible if she is used to BeyondTV...and you can watch a live stream.

mlbdude, GB-PVR is a full client. It does a lot more than listing MPGs from a network drive.

You can't piont your "sagetv" skin to a liveTV file that is always the same like in Beyond...you would have to search around and find the partially created file for whatever show you are watching.

Not to detract what the user community has done, but the BTV skin looks good but is not a client by any means.
I know there are clients available for some of the other PVR's, but in my situation currently only BTV or Sage measure up to what I am looking for in a PVR. However, the others do deserve credit for having one first. |

When it comes to programming... look somewhere else. So who here is going to be the guy to start this skin? -Jason

My guess is that everything is going into developing v2. (and rightfully so) Seeing as Narflex has already said he's gotten their client to work on it, i bet it's probably not far off after v2 goes gold. In the meantime, I'm planing a circuit city trip this weekend, as it looks like all the apps are server side, so buying a MVP from frey direct probably won't be nessesary. (sp?) So why wait?
Unless of course someone knows of an MVP v2 coming out shortly??? |

If you guys are interested in a PVR solution that already has a fully functional MediaMVP client, you might want to take a look at GB-PVR. It is still in beta. But, from the ground up it supports multiple tuners(PVR250/350/USB2 only), client/server and the MediaMVP. It also has a library structure for both music and video files. There are additional functions that are currently being implemented, but give it a try I think you will like it.
