QAM trouble

i'm having trouble getting QAM to work with both my AverMedia M780 and my Hauppauge HVR-1800. i'm pretty sure i've set up all the stuff in the add source menu correctly and i can receive OTA stuff, but QAM won't work in either one. anyone got any ideas?

thx

I have this issue with the Hauppauge 1600 as well. WinTV gets the "Clear QAM" channels, but Sage won't.

uberliberal, did you try to get "Clear QAM" for your 1800 through WinTV? If not, you should try because your cable company might not even provide Clear QAM (Though that would be highly unlikely).

Hi John,

The QAM auto search in WinTV can be very slow. Mine took 20 minutes but it found 60 channels. You may have another issue. Ckeck out my post which talks about hard drive noise. http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30600

The SAGETV autosearch was even more slow. It was running to 10 minutes before it found the first channel. That's the down side of running interpretted code(for the Python dudes).

here is what a person on the forums told me. I finally got QAM to work.

"I followed the directions in this thread:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...t=hvr+1600+qam

The most important part is to create the QAM_FRQ_CACHE.ENABLE file."
