USB-UIRT to turn TV on/off?

Hello all,

I have what I hope is a very straightforward question. I tried searching but can't seem to find the answer.

My setup is simple- a dedicated laptop running XP with SageTV 6.2 and a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 with 45 button remote. I also have a USB-UIRT device at my disposal. My TV signal is just a simple analog coaxial cable (no STB, etc).

I'm loving SageTV, but I would like to have a way to have it automatically turn off my TV when I put SageTV into standby mode and then turn it back on when I wake SageTV. I assume there should be a way to have USB-UIRT blast an IR signal to the television whenever the "power" button on the remote is pushed, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any suggestions?

Try EventGhost, assuming you can wire an emitter to the TV you can control it as well.

I also suggest the auto sleep timer plugin... If you don't provide any commands to SageTV for XX amount of time it will auto stop and then kill the TV too.

Thanks, CollinR.

I set up EventGhost and it is sort-of solving my problem, but not fully .

I can set it up so that when USB_UIRT receives the "power" code from the Hauppauge remote it transmits a TV-Off signal, so that works.

However, it would be even better if I could use "Standby" as an event in EG that would then trigger TV-off, rather than using the remote signal as an event. Is there any way to do this? I played around quite a bit but couldn't seem to get the SageTV standby (or off/on) as an actual "event".

Hi cdhickey,

Are you using the SageTV plugin in the EventGhost beta?
You should be able to map the PowerOff button from your Hauppauge remote to both SageTV standby (on/off) and TV off. Just add the usb-uirt event for your Hauppauge remote to both macros. I think it should trigger both when you press the button.

Good luck

Steve
