URGENT: cannot download the channel providers list

I deleted my video source trying to get some other things to work. I tried to add it back, but it asks for my zip code. I put it in, but then it says it can't download the list of channel providers. I'm stuck -- now Sage is 100% unusable! Please advise!

Hopefully you backed up your Sage directory before starting your surgery. If so, restore Sage.properties from your backup. If not, smack yourself in the head, and then check to see if you have any automatic backups from previous upgrades. These will have filenames of the form Sage.properties.SageTV Vx.y.z.w. Pick the most recent one and try that. (But make a backup of your current properties file first!)

I am trying to setup sagetv, and I cannot get EPG data either. I have opened the ports in my fw, but it says there was an error connecting to the savetv server.

Try again -- I thought maybe there was a problem with SageTV's EPG server, but if there was, then it seems to be fixed because it worked when I tried it just now. If it still doesn't work, double check the firewall settings.

Ever since that truck hit that data center in Texas, Rackspace has been providing poor service to the sagetv folks. this has bitten me few times and I find that I have just wait for an hour or more if I get any download errors.

At least I am not alone. Maybe the truck comment is correct or maybe not ... but for something that happened over 30 days ago it shows very poor planning on somebody's part if service is not restored by now. I do the network portion of DR for my company once or twice a year for the last six years and we are always back on-line within 72 hours. Granted this RackSpace thing is different so I give them 10 times my recovery time ... 30 days. We are already over 60 days and any service not fully recovered by now we should never expect to be recovered.

Since I never got a response to my post in this forum and the response to this post was "wait and see" guess I'll just wait

And I forgot its been since Nov 13 ! and it seems that I have had one or two issues each month were I lose my epg data because it can get any epg info.

I found this article from rackspace about on going issues, but its dated Dec5 a few weeks after the truck melee , I guess they stopped posting any info to stop the bleeding.

As I posted above, the EPG server issue should be fixed now. This is a user to user forum, so if you are still having problems, contact SageTV support.
