Lighting the Dolby Digital light on the receiver
I had to do a partial rebuild, and have apparently lost the ability to decode 5.1 DD through my Yamaha receiver. SPDIF is being fed from the sound card to the receivers input, but I seem to remember some complex setup issues with either AC3 or Nvidia filters.
I've been searching here most of the day, and still can't get the 5.1 lamp to light . If someone knows the best thread to read, or can offer suggestions, I'd appreciate it. I went to windows media player/tools/dvd/advanced and turned on AC3 passthrough. What else am I missing? Oh, sorry, are DVD's played through Sage handled with different codecs than recorded television is? I am a little confused here. Lastly, if AC3 is enabled, you lose audio volume control from the Hauppauge remote, is that correct? thanks Last edited by tvmaster2; 01-19-2008 at 10:58 PM. Reason: more info |

You are supposed to turn-on the "SPDIF passthru" option in the audio decoders you use for normal videos and DVDs.
This can be done by accessing their respective property pages. The easiest way this can be done is to download and run radlight filter manager and find your audio decoders in the directshow filter section. Right click their properties and you should be able to do it from there.
