What Happens When CATV Changes Lineup

I just moved over to Sage from BTV and I am very happy about it.

I had a situation in BTV last month where my cable company moved the Hallmark Channel to another channel and a couple of other channels got switched around. I didn't notice the problem until I wanted to watch a recording that was not done correctly because the channel moved. I had to reinstall the channel lineup with BTV. What happens with SAGE TV when this happens? Do I have to know about this the day it happens so I can manually fix this. I don't even recall a notice that the cable company was doing this.

You should not even notice it. The EPG data should be aware of the changes and already have the correct data in it. If you the EPG data is not correct then you will have to manually remap the channels to the new lineup. I don't think the cable company will notify you because they expect you to use their STBs which know about the changes.

had this happen to me last week. TCM and 2 other channels got moved over the weekend and the EPG didn't show it until thurs. missed a movie wed over it. such is life w/ Comcast basic. I have too many tuners to go the STB route @ $5/mon ea. so I live w/ it. good thing is so far they haven't changed the lineup but maybe 2x/yr.
