ananova has stopped there xml listings service

i have been using sage tv for about a week and i thinks it's wicked. after a couple of days i had everything setup inlcuding tv_grab_uk and all my ntl analog channles).
i checked saturdays programs and found no data so i ran xmltv and got a script error. after looking at ananova there is a page saying they have stopped the service.

i am currently trying to use tv_grab_uk_rt but i cant get listings for all my channles.

i am missing the following

mtv
cartoon network
nickelodeon
vh1
men and motors

radio times have them if you login.

can anyone help ?

i saw in one of the other threads that some one has an updated tv_grab_uk_rt.pl

many thanks

Lee Smith

I have posted a patch on the XMLTV sourceforge web site which allws tv_grab_uk_rt to get more channels (all available to a registered user on the radiotimes web site).

It should be incorporated into the 'next' XMLTV windows exectuable, but I have no idea when that is...

If you can get a XMLTV perl source distribution running under windows (either using a native Win32 Perl interpreter, or perl running in Cygwin, neither of which are easy to do) you can use this patch...

I cant wait unitl a company starts natively supporting the UK. Digiguide have doen very well just supplying an EPG, its just they want to move into the PVR market so no cance of them supporting other companies

Looks like the rt grabber is the way to go for now. If they stop that, then i'm sure others will become avavilable. It just means we might all have to be more active in producing the stuff as well as using it

leejsmith:

XMLTV project page at SF:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xmltv/
Click on 'Patches' and you will see it there...
(Direct link to download)

However, the patch is shown as a diff witth the current version: you will need the 'patch' tool (also in cygwin, but probably elsewhere) to apply the patch to the source distribution...

i have the patch thanks but cant get the perl libs installed into indigoperl.

i have all the libs required but get errors with xml:: parser and
xml:twig not found when i run perl makefile.pl

must be something to do with the folder i extracted them to.

i think it should be perl/site/lib

but being new to perl i dont know

i guess i will have to wait as i cant get makefile.pl to run.
i removed the indigoperl installation and started again.
created html/xml and date folders in perl/site and perl/xmltv folders and put the lib files in.

when i compile i get xml::twig not loaded date::manip not loaded ect.

i am not one for giving up but i think i need to do something else for a while and try again later.

I too cannot get this patch to merge, if anyone manages it could you please send me a copy. If anyone knows where documentation is on these diff files, I'll try it manually by hand.

i spent most of friday night and saturday installing cygwin and so far i have all of the libs installed but when i run makefile.pl i get an error at the end

c:\cygwin\bin\perl.exe (1024): *** unable to remap c:\cygwin\lib\perl5\site_perl\5.8.2\cygwin-thread-multi-64int\auto\compress\zlib\zlib.dll to same address as parent(0x1040000) != 0x106000

all i can find on cygwin was to run a utill to make sure all libs files are correct. which i did but it made no differance.

i think it is some thing to do with zlib but i am not sure

Hi Nielm,

I had a look at the XMLTV sourceforge web site but could not find your patch. Could you confirm it's location for me as I would like to experiment and see if I can fully populate my SageTV system.

Thanks

The patch got checked into CVS and closed this weekend, so it has disappeared from the 'open patches' list...
Look at the latest files in CVS,

Here is the direct link to the patch.

It will appear in the next XMLTV version...

[EDIT]CVS problems fxed.

For all those people fighting with Win32 Perl or cygwin:

The alpha win32 XMLTV EXE version now appears to have my patch in it...

You will need to update your channel_ids file in the share/xmltv/tv_grab_uk_rt directory to include the new channels added by my patch (use latest file in CVS - linked in my previous post)

The xmltv channel-ids should be the same as those for tv_grab_uk, so you might be able to just use the same config file as for the other grabber..

It also defaults to 'fast, summary-only' mode, if you want detailed listings info, you have run it with the --slow argument.

[EDIT] refer to channel_ids in CVS

I'm struggling with this Radio Times stuff, I get the following:

C:\XMLTV>xmltv tv_grab_uk_rt --configure
Timezone is +0000
adding '--share=C:/XMLTV/share/xmltv'
using config filename ./.xmltv/tv_grab_uk_rt.conf
Warning: this grabber requires a large number of page fetches from a human-readable website. It is normally better to run tv_grab_uk, which has its own data source.

Proceed with configuration? [yes,no (default=no)] yes
finding channels: could not get channels page http://www.radiotimes.beeb.com/Perso...nnels=true&jsp
Location=/jsp/select_channels.jsp&rtError=/jsp/error.jsp&jspError=/jsp/register.jsp&next_page=tv_select - aborting

Any ideas?

i am also getting the same error when running tv_grab_uk_rt.

it worked yesterday

this is the link on radiotimes for my listings

http://www.radiotimes.com/Personalis...page=tv_select

and the error from tv_rt

finding channels:could not get channels page http://www.radiotimes.beeb.com/Perso...nnels=true&jsp
Location=/jsp/select_channels.jsp&rtError=/jsp/error.jsp&jspError=/jsp/register.jsp&next_page=tv_select - aborting

they both look the same apart from the actual web address

For what its worth, I am also getting this error. But I thought it was something I am doing wrong and haven't had time to look into it.

FYI if I paste the URL into a browser of the same machine it displays a web page with all the channels listed

Seriously thinking of buying a comupter just to get MCE unless I can get a decent epg.....

looks like radiotimes have changed their domain from:
radiotimes.beeb.com
to
radiotimes.com

There is already a patch on XMLTV to handle this (886138), but if you use the Perl sources for XMLTV then just a search/replace will fix it.

For those using the 0.5.27 XMLTV EXE putting the following in your hosts file -- %WINDIR%/system32/drivers/etc/hosts -- may fix it
212.58.235.200 www.radiotimes.beeb.com

For those using the new alpha with the extra channels fix, you will have to wait for a new EXE because the URL is also used internally for cookies and page parsing... Sorry...
