Internet Level DRM...
Big Brother is getting bigger.
"Representatives from NBC, Microsoft, several digital filtering companies and telecom giant AT&T said the time was right to start filtering for copyrighted content at the network level." See: http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/0...ter/index.html |

IMHO, all those parties should filter email spam first before they filter out supposed copyright violations.
What happened to the "innocent until proven guilty" provisions of the US legal system? When did all citizens become "guilty until proven innocent beyond a shadow of a doubt"? |

While I understand the need to develop a means to prevent illegal copying of materials, the potential for abuse in a network level filtering and monitoring scheme is huge.
Just who will determine whether a data transfer is authorized or blocked? How can they differentiate illegal transfers from tranfers between two "authorized" hosts? This is a slippery slope, my friends. |
