Recorder vs. TV
I have a feeling I should have been able to figure this out on my own. However, I haven't found the answer to the difference between SageTV and Sage Recorder applications.
Can someone help? Thanks, David |

Re: Recorder vs. TV
Quote:
If you want TiVo-like functionality, you will want SageTV. If you want to use the SageTV user interface on a remote PC, you will need the SageTV Client (in addition to the full SageTV). If a remote PC contains a tuner card (or you just want simple recording capabilities), then (and only then) you will need SageRecorder. |

OR, if you are like me and just want to cap a few tv shows/movies or cap from VHS for archival purposes, without the full HTPC effect, Sage recorder is a lot better than buying the full Sage TV (It is cheaper and most of Sage TV's stuff will go unused)

Beginner question for all of you above...
I have a SageTV Beta 14 dedicated PVR with lots of horse-power connected to my stereo system downstairs. It has four video inputs. I have a TV upstairs that I'd like to have hit my dedicated PVR. It will have 0 inputs - I just want to be able to access the inputs downstairs. Do I need SageRecorder or can I simply hit my SageTV box downstairs with the Sage TV Client? Thanks.
