Mac 6.3.5 Placeshifter Crashes on Dual G5

While 6.3.5 Placeshifter seems OK on my (Intel) Macbook, on my dual G5 PowerPC it blows chunks every time I try to watch a recording, any recording. This has never happened before that I can remember. You select watch, the audio starts, the cursor starts spinning, video never appears and then after about 3 seconds the app crashes. Same every time, the mplayer process continues to be open too.

Both machines are running the latest Leopard.

I'm running Leopard on a G5 dualie, Placeshifter running OK - the picture is not a smooth as I remember - may be the source or other, unrelated problem.
