More HVR-1600 Issues
I have one of these wonderful HVR-1600's (74021 LF) and I am having a ton of issues using QAM. I have followed the step by step instructions for setting up the card and getting QAM channels, but for some reason the tuner stops scanning after a certain amount of time. It usually stops on channel 38 and will not proceed after. I have left it on overnight to come back and see it still stuck. The program is still functional and I can stop and go backwards. However, it does not find any channels.
When I go into WinTV (with the cable hooked into the ATSC port), it takes hours to do just a portion of the scan. I get SD channels fine, doesn't like my keyboard commands all of the time. On WinTV I can get over the air HD signals ok, but never in the actual program. Any help or suggestions? |

I found that if Sage's screen saver kicks in, it will stop the scan.
When I went to scan my QAM channels, I bumped my screen saver timeout to some ridiculously high number such as 8000 minutes, I could get an uninterrupted scan. |

I had that problem too but they fixed it in the latest version. Screensaver doesn't kick in and kill the process anymore..

What drivers are you using? QAM support was added via driver update, the drivers on the disk may not be QAM capable.
The digital scan can take a while, especially with all the digital cable channels, the card will find them, it just can't read the signal. You said that the WinTV program does the scan but takes a while, does it find anything during the scan? How are your tuners set up in Sage?

Tuner is setup just as FMAX instructed.
WinTV found all digital channels, test didn't take as long on this go around. And yes I have all the latest drivers installed. |

Well I got it to scan, however, when I finished setup and tried to go back to the channels, they didn't work. The program kept telling me there was no signal on the corresponding channel. I dont know what to do now.

Digital seems to be much more finicky over connection quality than analog. The TV knew the channel was present but couldn't put together a good enough signal to get a picture.
