Sage Server v6.3 & network encoder v5.x?

I have 2 licenses for Sage, one for the later versions (paid the upgrade price and use the latest version on it now), and the other is an older license (it's pre-6, so it's not able to run with the later versions) that I used to use as a network encoder (replaced my older Sage Recorder install, wish that was still in development). Can the newer server use the older server as a network encoder still, or will I need to upgrade the license on that one as well?

Main reason I'm doing it is, my existing Sage server is a dual-xeon, which only has PCI slots (5 PCI Slots), and I'm getting ready to buy a few PCI-E capture cards, which will work fine in my DVB-S machine (it has 2 PCI-Ex1 slots empty right now). My plan is to run Sage in encoder mode, and use that machine for my PCIE cards. It's no big deal if I have to upgrade the license, just curious if it'd work without it.
