That's weird... I got results now too. Maybe it just wasn't available online earlier today. Some of the other links above were added to the default setup in v6.3.6, so we'll look at this one for next time.

Andy, do you mean you have a stand-alone tool for managing the feeds and updating the properties files - or are you working on a future STV that will have this capability built in?

Now that I understand how the properties files work, I had thought about possibly working on an STVi that would give the ability to add/remove/modify feeds, but I won't bother if it is something you plan to do in the future anyway.

As an aside, I have a suggestion for future STV's. Would you consider changing the "Online Services" menu to the "Online Videos & Podcasts" menu and removing the Weather and TV Editorials from it? Then you could put this menu inside of a new "Online Services" or "Extras" menu along with the Weather and TV Editorials. It's just a matter of personal preference I guess, but I like to have a regular menu without all of the individual podcast categories where I can also put add-ons like the Weather Report Suite, RSS Feeds, etc.

The online content section is in a constant state of change lately... it may or may not even keep the current properties layout since it isn't turning out to be very efficient for listing these types of feeds. So if you make a customization, be aware things may drastically change in that area w/o any notice. But since the code already exists, it might not change much at all. I'm sure that's all quite clear now. Or maybe not. This is why I don't predict what will happen in the future.

Actually, it doesn't quite do it - though it gets close. One problem is that if you use the Left button from the Weather or TV Editorials page, it will still take you to the default Online Services Menu.

Another problem is that the Weather and TV Editorials buttons still show-up in the online services menu. One way around this it to use the Dynamic Menus to re-build the whole screen with the custom menulettes. However, the items will then appear in one long scrolling list rather than in the grid of buttons. Also, you will need to go through the manual process of creating the menu items ever time the STV changes.

In that case, I will hold off until I see how things shake out.

I don't know if Sage would want to include this type of content by default, but you are free to add any types of podcast content that interest you - I have some instructions on how to do so earlier in this thread.

If you do a Google search for "Video Podcast Directory" you will find several sites that catalog all types of posdcasts. I'm not sure what the forum rules are about porn, but it is probably best not to post any specific links for that sort of material here.

However, it should also be noted, that many of the podcasts that are available in the default STV are not family-friendly. You can find some objectionable material on Google Videos and YouTube Videos. Also, some of the podcasts feature some objectionable language. I was watching one of the HD podcasts on technology, and the hosts dropped the "F-Bomb" about every 5 minutes. This sort of thing doesn't bother me at all, but I know there are a lot of parents out there who probably don't want their kids exposed to this. So the podcasts should probably be viewed with caution and adult supervision. Unfortunately for parents, there is currently no rating system for podcasts.

How to incorporate LastFM feeds here

Has anyone taken a stab at including the audio and video feeds available from LastFM? For those who have not used it, it is a music site that collects your listening taste, allows you to create a personal radio station based upon your tastes and recommends music you might like based upon your tastes. The longer you listen and the more your update what you like/don't like, the more accurate it gets.

Anyhow, I've been using it long enough that I love the Recommended Audio station and the Recommended Videos. To view the recommended videos, you have to be logged into your LastFM Dashboard -- not sure if this can be accomodated via the Online Services menu -- anyone?

Here is the link to the New Video charts on the Public LastFM site (not the dashboard): http://www.last.fm/music/+charts/video/

Incorporating the audio into the Music menu has also been beyond my capabilities to figure out. There is a freeware tool called LastFM Proxy which allows me to use my server machine as a proxy host so I can aim Sage at it, but it won't work. I have tried the Simple Internet Radio interface. Hoping that the Online Services interface might work, but LastFM uses the M3U format to immediately begin streaming the online playlist and it doesn't look like that will work.

Any thoughts???

Another good source of Video feeds here:

www.lordoftv.com

Tons of assorted content. I've not tried to see if any can be incorporated into Sage.

Most of those (and some others posted here) should already be in the v6.3.6 beta, btw.

Wow, this is cool.

I wonder if Sage have considered setting up a site for us to share podcasts. They could be moderated perhaps with separate options for Adult/MA content and Sage could download/refresh the available podcasts periodically.

Mick.

Movie Trailers

anyone have a good movie trailer site? The google one is either awful or I have no idea how to configure it correctly. I get like 10 movies from like 1970 and thats it. I'd like to find a video podcast xml that just has some of the newest movie trailers as they come out....

Best way to see "new" movie trailers is MovieTimes addon.

yeah i love that feature of movietimes, it just a shame that more trailers are not available via podcast, the only trailers you can see on movietimes are the ones already in theaters, which is nice, but.....

i had no idea about 2 movies, which trailers look real good - hancock and strange wilderness, after i heard the names I was able to google them in sage and find them, but it'd be nice if there was a podcast I could go watch a few every now and then....

Can anyone tell me why these 2 feeds don't work? I've added them properly, but when I try to browse it just says no videos were found. It's definitely something in the feed or the way sage reads the feed. I know I added the category right because I can substitute a different feed address and it works just fine.

If you've been customizing your online video links & are running the v6.3.8 beta, be sure to check out the new way to customize those links: v6.3.8 Test STV: custom online video feed definitions.

Custom links use their own properties files now, so they aren't overwritten during an upgrade, and all you have to provide is the link -- after accessing the item the first time, SageTV will automatically get the title & icon from the feed.

BTW: I tried using those links in the sample custom properties file -- both listed content, but the 'twim_enhanced' feed didn't seem to have videos that SageTV could play, while 'macbreak_tech' works but is audio only.

For me neither one works. Both are audio only. Macbreak tech says there are no videos and twim enhanced has a list of videos but they won't play. Twim enhanced is aac quicktime audio made specifically for itunes with thumbnails that change periodically, so that probably has something to do with that. I'll try the regular mp3 feed for that.

*third times the charm for my double posts and my idle hour and not hitting refresh when i got back!

Both are audio only, but other audio only ones work just fine. For me neither works at all. Macbreak tech says there are no videos, while twin enhanced comes up with a list but nothing will actually play. Now that I think about it, the "enhanced" twim uses aac quicktime audio files made specifically for itunes instead of mp3, maybe that has something to do with it.
