PVR250 and PVR500
does anyone have this setup? I have it, and it was working fine in linux, but now I am at thepoint where I can either get all 3 tuners working and no IR or I can get only the 250 working and have the IR. I contacted hauppauge, they basically said,
"The ir software is looking to the 500 for ir which it doesn't have. There's no way to tell the ir to look at the 250. We don't have multi tuner support in our software so we didn't include any multi tuner ir support either. There's not really much to be done as far as our software. You would need something like Media Center." So now I guess i am going to have to buy an IR, I really don't want to wait a week for it to be shipped, does anyone have any suggestions on getting this working or have any suggestions on a cheap IR that could be picked up at a chain store? I have a Harmony 880, so it shouldn't be a problem if it is some cheap thing, but operating sage without a remote is not fun..... |

That issue is a common problem with the IR software attaching itself to an tuner board that doesn't have an IR port.
THere are a couple workarounds that may fix you up. One is to switch the boards around. That may cause the boards to init up in a different order and let the IR software attach to the correct board. Or, by doing some scripting (info to do that can be found by a search) to get the cards to load in a specific order so that the IR software attaches to the correct board. edit: here is the thread I was thinking about that gets into workarounds and fixes for your ir port problem, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8672

Sorry I should have mentioned
I am running windows XP now and that is why i am having the problem, would switching the card around maybe fix this issue still? I never thought it would be easier to setup hardware in linux than windows

yes, switching the cards may fix the problem. If not, then you need to set up some scripting to get the cards and Ir software to start up in a specific order.
Or else, order up the USB-UIRT and call it done.
