6.3.4 Imported Videos from network Share broken?
So I have my videos (ripped DVD and family video) out on a network share :
"\\server\Videos" Is the path that I have in the media import directories. Once I upgraded to 6.3.4 (from 6.2.10) I don't have the ability to play them anymore. Initially they were found by Sage (ie listed in the UI), but when I selected them to play I got a message "no longer on the disc". So I deleted the path, and re added it. Specifying the directory as "\\server\Videos" gives me a popup that says "Directory doesn't exist - create?" So then if I browse up the directory structure so that I can browse the "Network" - and find the folder that way. It allows me to add it, but it can't even find any video files that way (none show up in the UI, after telling Sage to rescan repeatedly). btl.

If you are using the service, you have to set the user again after an upgrade. That could be it.

I did reset the user, however looks like I needed to restart the service (maybe it was already running while I changed to my userid?)
Anyway, after restarting the service all is well. btl.

Please help! I just set up my HTPC and decided on clean install for everything. I thought I would be able to point the import library to my old recording directories on my pc. It's not working. I can select my workgroup, see both computers, but when I select one, invalid directory. I can not specify the directory either. What am I missing?

You want to point the Sage Recording directory to those old recordings, not the Import library directories.

The problem for me was that I was using the SageTV service. The service by default runs as a local user and therefore can not access network drives. You MUST run the service as an actual user with a password. Once I did that, I had no problems pointing to my old directories.

I am already using a real user with password.

Recording files found in import directories can still be recognized as recordings. SageTV just won't record new shows to those paths.

The only other thing I can think of is that either your security software is blocking access or that somehow the permissions on your old directories are not set to be shared. I'm not sure if it's required to set the folders to be shared, but I did just in case and no problem.
