SageTV Centre/server + remote archiving for SageTV novice!

Hi, Is there a sticky or a faq anywhere that just discusses the basic principles and hardware suggestions for running a Sage Server with NAS archive?

If there is then I can't find it and I'd be greatful for a pointer .
If not then read on......

I have set up a basic test lab for my sagetv server and everything is working fine. I want to expand this so that I can incorporate a NAS I have running on my home/office network. Before I get in to cabling the 60 metres from my office to my house.... can anyone give me some feedback if my idea is sound.

I want to run SageTV on my HTPC in my TV room (house). This only has about 500Gb disk space and is already 50% full and has little room for added drives. So I want to archive to my storage, I have a NAS and a kind of back office server both of which with a lot of space (office). Now when I use a Sage Wired Media Extender in other rooms (house) clearly I point this to the sage server but if I want to watch an archived show what are my options?
1) Point the sagetv server to the NAS for some of it's video files... so files will stream from the NAS to the SageTV server and then to the SageME? I guess I'm doubling my network traffic?
Also do I risk performance problems with SD progs over 100Mbit network?
It's fine with files on the HTPC served to the ME btw.
Are there any other usability problems with this? I'll archive over the network manually when it's quiet.

2) My alternative thoughts are to set the back office server(office) as a sageTV server as well! But then I'd need to flick my ME between the HTPC ( which I use to watch live TV (I have 2 Satelite boxes (SKY! UK, Murdoch isn't having any more of my money & a DIGITAL Sat which picks up euro channels CANAL+)... again there are issues I'm sure.

Anyone think I'm daft and haven't got the point!?
Anyone have any alternative suggestions?
Anyone have any hardware setup similar and got it working nicely?

I hope this is the right place and my questions aren't too stupid.
Any info is greatly appreciated ... I know a fair bit about PC's, Servers and Networks but SageTV is a fairly new concept for me so be gentle.

Cheers.
Mike

Just specify a network path for the directory that sage stores recordings in. You can even have multiples.

thx
