HDMI to DVI or VGA adapters

Now I'm in the market for some adapters. I'm hoping to replace two clients with these extenders. One of my current clients sends the signal via DVI and the other via VGA (older HD TV). Are there adapters that will convert the HDMI without loosing the HD resolutions? Poking around on Goolge, it looks like DVI is doable, but I'm less sure about the VGA. Would someone please enlighten me?

The major difference between DVI-D and HDMI is the connector and HDMI can have audio while DVI is video only. So HDMI-DVI adapters or cables are available. HDMI is digital while VGA is analog so it would require a converter box, which is most likely expensive. See http://www.svideo.com/vga2dvi.html for an example.

DVI - HDMI is a no brainer, it is the same signal minus the audio as long as the DVI is of the digital variety (DVI can be analog).

VGA - HDMI is problematic in that VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. So you would need an ADC (Analog Digital Convertor) to make it work. Not sure if anyone makes such a device. Since VGA is pretty much the same thing as component video check for component -> HMDI convertors.

Thanks for your feedback. Looks like the DVI will be simple (relatively cheap). For the VGA, I found a component to RGBHV here:
http://www.allaboutadapters.com/prcovitovgco.html for $88. Maybe I can connect the Sage HD extender via compoent to this and then connect this to the VGA of the TV and have it doing 1080i.

However, this just blew my extender budget. I doubt the $500 will cover two extenders, two extender licenses, a DVI adapter, the above VGA adapter and the component cables to go from the Sage HD extender to the above converter box. I guess I chaulk it up to the price of being an early HDTV adopter.

The signal is the same for the DVI - HDMI adaptor, however, the Component and VGA signals are close, but require some active signal manipulation. Good thing the extender is only $200 cause now you can stay under the $500 mark (without taxes)
