Create .edl file with Comskip?
I just tried Comskip and it seems to work ok, but it only creates a .txt. I have edited the .ini file with output_edl=1, but I still only see a text file created. Am I missing something? I am pretty sure it is reading the .ini file because I have set verbose=0 to stop logging and that seemed to work. Chad

Hi,
I found this thread in the Comskip support forums: http://www.kaashoek.com/comskip/view...&highlight=edl Quote from that thread: Quote:

It does create it automatically, but the edl file isn't created until the process is completely finished. Did you wait for it to finish?

Well I have it working, but I had to use Comskip Monitor. I was using Dirmon2 before, but not sure why it did not work. I thought that I did wait until the file was done, but now that you mentioned that I might not have. Now that I installed Comskip Monitor I like it better anyway. I like how it has the option to run at scheduled times and I could not figure out how to do that with Dirmon2.
In the past I was using SA, but can not get it to work on one of my local channels that I record with a lot. I am hopping this might help. Thanks, Chad |

Setting
output_edl=1 should force the creation of the EDL file, no need to set output_default=0

Make sure that you have the ini file in your recording directory(ies), not just where the comskip exe lives. It should output the edl file while processing is in progress, and if you set enable_livetv (or is is just live_tv?) to 1 it will process files as they are recording and output the commercials as it finds them instead of waiting until the processing is complete.

I think I am having the same problem with my install of comskip as the other posters above. I make changes to the .ini file that is in the same directory as my comskip.exe, but the changes do not seem to take. I set it to create .edl files and to not create .txt and log files, but it still creates them anyway. I have three SageTv recording directories. Do I need to place a copy of the revised .ini in each of my three recording directories for comskip to work properly? If this is the case then why does the install of comskip monitor ask for a path to the .ini file?

No. But make sure in your comskip monitor ini file that you are calling out the correct comskip directory for your installation. Comskip monitor will use the comskip.exe from that named directory. If your making changes and using another direcdtory that is why you're having issues.
