Odd issue SageTV freezes after Comskip

Currently I am using VMR9 for my overlay, but my closed captioning (Yes I am aware SageTV will not provide support for CC but this is not about CC) background is a transparent background with white lettering instead of standard soild black background with white letterings.

I like the look of the transparent CC however I had issue where their are snow white background occuring on the tv show or movie that I couldn't see the Captions at all.

I knew if I use Video Overlay Renderering instead of VMR9 I will get soild black background with white lettering.

The thing is if I select Video Overlay the playback will freeze almost everytime it comskips that I am force to press ff or rr to un-stuck the plackback.

Any idea why using Video Overlay causes playback to freeze when it comskips?
