FWIW - the AC3 in Sage 6.3.1 BETA was at the point of release the latest version of AC3 available. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked.

Interesting all, thanks for posting your setups.

Strangely, after a lot of experimentation prompted by this thread, I am back to Intervideo Non CSS filters for Hauppauge, as I get stuttering with both Cyberlink and NVidia Purevideo Codecs in MPEG 2. Am going to try the newer Intervideo WinDVD8 codecs and will post results, but I found it curious that the oldest codec of the bunch gives me the best performance.

What is also curious is that both Cyberlink and Nvidia Purevideo worked well in SD Cable signals, but both did the stuttering on HDHR recorded HD content, which is why I had to go back to Intervideo. Anyone else experience this, or is it just me?

Hi,

How about decoders for vista? What is available for vista, besides PDVD Ultra, that will provide HW acceleration? I can't see spending $99 on PDVD Ultra just to get the decoder. Is anyone using PDVD SE and does HW accel work with it?

How about the MS decoder? Any good? HW accel?

Last, can anyone confirm that the purevideo decoders, along with the nvidia drivers, will provide HW accel in sage?

Thanks,
Jesse

I also use Intervideo exclusively due to the non-smooth stuttering that I saw with Purevideo and Cyberlink PDVD7. I am able to watch DVD discs with my version of Intervideo so I guess I have the CSS version. It's definitely the smoothest of all my codecs but I can't speak to picture quality.

Only thing I care about is video and captions. I don't care if audio quit working or go out of sync .

That thing has been driving me nuts since he started using it. On a laptop it is incredibly annoying.

FSE got rid of alot of the stuttering, thank you, but I still have stutters ever 10 or so minutes for a brief time. I've found that they are how HDHR is laying down the video, and not a playback decoder issue, which is odd because I've never had an issue with the stream that was recorded before.

I'm going to look into it, but this is unlike the previous stutter problems I've had... very strange.
