Synch output of multiple MVPs / Sage servers?

I've recently added a second MVP to my Sage arsenal (one in family room, one in kitchen), and my Sage server is in the den. It would be great if all three (or any combination) could be synchronized to have the same output (slideshows, sound, video, etc.). This would be like a "party mode" so that the same media is experienced throughout the house.

Anyone have any ideas?

Since they're all independent players it wouldn't be possible with 'recorded material in SageTV', but if you set up a Video Source connected to 'Composite/video-in' then all the players could tune that using LiveTV. So if you burned your own DVD and put it in an external player...

Even in Live TV mode you're not going to get them all in perfect sync, since each one has its own stream, its own 1-2 second lag, its own decoding process, and its own pause/play controls.

The best way to get true multi-room sync is pull all the screen & speaker wiring back to a central closet and use an AV distribution switch to send the same signal to multiple rooms when you want them to be in sync, or different signals to different rooms when you don't.

MVP and Sage "could" do IP Multicast for same show to many viewers. I doubt that it's designed to do so.

My employer does IP Multicast of VIP speeches etc. to thousands of employee-desktops.

Get another encoder and another MVP, plug the MVP into the new encoder. Map the new encoder to an unused channel like 0.

Now you can send the other 2 MVPs to channel 0 and FF to the front, they will both display the same info in very close to syncronization.

To change the "party mode" just change what the new 3rd MVP is watching and the others will follow right along.
