New User. MP2 audio being imported as video
I just purchased Sage after running through the trial and finding it did the necessary things i was looking for, now I'm digging a little deeper and have some questions. This is my first.
I have a bunch of MP2 audio files, when I point sage to the my music directory, it imports the MP2 files as video files. It will play them just fine, but thinks they're videos when they aren't. If I tell Sage to only import the audio from that folder, it doesn't import the MP2s at all. Anybody know of a solution? I'm VERY new at Sage and might need some hand holding if it's too difficult. |

Just curious, is there a particular reason you still have MP2 audio files? I personally haven't used MP2 audio in at least 10 years if not longer. Even then it was just a toy for me at the time. MP3 quickly came and superceded MP2 audio.

I am a radio engineer, and as such, I have a lot of MP2 files still from various radio station libraries i've built over the years. MP2 is still the compression standard for broadcast audio (for the stations that still run compressed).

Ah... that's interesting considering MP2 is slightly lower quality. Unfortunately I don't have any MP2 files to help you out. If I were you I'd submit an official support request through their web page. These are user forums. The developers rarely frequent them.

Yeah, I didn't really expect any devs to be frequenting the forum. I just figured that since I was new to the system that I was probably just missing some file type associacion someplace. It seems all I should really need to do to solve this problem is to un-associate the .mp2 extension with videos and then associate the .mp2 extension with audio. I just don't know where that could be done, or how to properly do it.
<RANT> The forums seem to solve most problems if you can find the answer, the problem has become that there have been so many different versions released, that a search yields a TON of old results. For instance i was trying to figure out how to hide say R rated files unless a the parental code was input. That gets you a bunch of results from say Version 4 saying that it's expected to be incorporated in the next release, but then no talk about whether it was or wasn't and if it was how to envoke it. </RANT> Sorry... but, any tips? Thanks |
