How Long Does Your QAM Channel Scan Take?

I just bought a HVR-1600 card from Circuit City, and I have it scanning from the clear QAM channels on my cable system. My DTV picks up a bunch, so I hope the HVR-1600 will find them as well. Then I get to have fun mapping them. Then, if all this works, I'll move the card from my test system to my DVR.

When I first installed the card next to an existing PVR-150, Windows XP did not recognize the new card. I removed all Hauppauge software with their utility, powered down, pulled the PVR-150, and swapped the HVR-1600 into its slot. Upon reboot, Windows recognized it right away, and I installed only the drivers from the software package.

Now I am at channel 47 in the scan, and SageTV hasn't found any digital channels. Maybe when I am done with this post, it will have found at least one.

I used this useful post to guide me:

Right now, I am at channel 52, and it has found 17 digital channels. YIPPEEE!

It has been scanning for at least 20 minutes at this point.

The QAM Channels are not until the higher range. My first was at 89. It takes me about 30-45 mins to scan.

Too long to sit and watch, as I found out. It would be nice if a start channel could be specified. Mine don't start until 52. Ended up finding 69 digital channels, but I think 37 were music. Found a couple that my DTV didn't, including ESPN2HD, which seems to be the highest bandwidth channel I get. Even my DTV has trouble playing it when I manually tune it in, and forget about my crappy computer. Here is more info on that sad subject:
