H264 channels not working

I have CoreAVC but i can't watch tv channels with h264. This is the error I get: There was a Playback Error in playback. Details: sage.PlaybackException: ERROR(-4,0x80040217): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback.

Very irritating... The properties file says:
videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=CoreAVC Video Decoder

So it should work. Or am I wrong?

Before I tried the Cyberlink powerdvd 7 decoder but I didn't like it. Audio and video are not sync and the video is not very smooth. I have A 8600GTS with a AMD Athlon 6400+ and 4GB RAM using Windows XP Prof.

Thanks.
Rik

CoreAVC doesn't work yet. I emailed back and forth a while ago with the developers on this. Sent logs etc.

PowerDVD 7.3 will work just fine for your h.264 though.

I'm also using PDVD7 decoder and H.264 content plays fine for me.

Hey all.... my search filter caught this thread.... On CoreAVC... There are NO known bugs at this time in either CoreAVC Standard or Professional Editions.

Rik if you want.... you can send us a sample of the video you are having an issue with. Send it via www.yousendit.com to me: betaboy AT corecodec DOT com

Same error

I am getting the same error when trying to watch TV. I can watch channel 9424 ESPNHD without a problem but if I try to watch channel 9425 ESPN2HD I get the error. I get the error on other channels also not just HD channels.

I'm using 2 r5000 mod ViP 211 Sat boxes for video capture.

After some more testing I find that I have no problem viewing HD recorded videos that were recorded using Sage from a different location and copied to the server hard drive and imported in to sage. I do however have a problem playing regular DVD's that have been riped to the server hard drive. When I try to play these I get the same error as above. I know my SageTV would play these at one time but now they don't. This means that I have messed up some settings but I can not figure out what they are.

BTW this line does not appear in any of my sage.properties files

videoframe/h264_video_decoder_filter=CoreAVC Video Decoder

Low and behold I just found out that ESPNHD is MPEG-2 and ESPN2HD is MPEG-4 h.264. So now I just have to get the proper codec in to sage....

I hate being a noob.... LOL

I didn't mean to imply that there was a problem with CoreAVC when I mentioned that it won't work with Sage. With MPC or other suitable player it works perfectly. The problem is that SageTV won't use it correctly, no matter how you configure sage.

The MPEG-2 HD channels are becoming scarce. ESPNHD is about the only one left that I watch with regularity.

Too bad because I can transcode & stream the MPEG-2 HD channels to my Placeshifter but not the h.264 hd streams from Dish.
