XP AverMedia M780 Gigabyte GA-MA69GM SD Content Freeze

Hello,

I am new to Sage, HTPC, etc, but I am an experienced techie. I setup a new, modern computer with XP and Sage 6.2.10. When I view Live TV the picture freezes after a second or so. Sage and Windows are OK. I can access menus, change channels, etc without problem. All of my drivers and firmware are up to date. I ran disk and benchmark utilities to confirm that nothing is wrong with my setup.

On a whim I tested this same setup with Vista. Everything works just fine. However, I bought my Vista seat for another computer. It costs too much to buy another seat.

Any ideas?

Joe Kotran

P.S. AMD X2 4600+
2GB RAM
Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H
AverMedia M780 tuner

P.P.S. My setup is clean / factory new. I have no extra software, codecs, etc.

sorry I don't have much to share other than I too have the M780 tuner (2 of them), with a Giga Mobo, 2 GB Ram, but an Intel Quad processor. I've had no real issues to speak of (minor stuff, but so far I've been able to fix them).

running .19 of the M780 driver...

When do the freezes happen?
I have a M780 also.
Since I moved my SD content from dish to analog cable, I've noticed at some TV show break points (when one show ends and the other begins), it will either freeze for a second, or it will replay the last couple of seconds of the previous program, but at a high speed.
For now its random, and I can't think of a way to reproduce the problem.

I can reproduce the freeze every time I activate live TV. The TV picture freezes after one or two seconds of video. All else is fine. I can access the Sage menus, etc.
