HDMI or Component ???
Finally retired the 4x3 Toshiba RPTV for a Samsung 16x9 LCD. The Samsung has both HDMI and component inputs and is currently hooked up to the HTPC via component.
The HTPC has a Sapphire x1600 video card with DVI or component outputs. The component feed looks pretty good. Would the DVI - HDMI look better ? |

In theory HVI/HDMI is better than component because it eliminates converting the signal for digital to analog and then back to digital. If you already have the needed DVI-HDMI cable or cost isn't a factor than go ahead and give it a try. The difference probably isn't significant. An advantage of leaving it component is that you keep the HDMI input(s) free for things like HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, etc. that may require HDCP.
