I get menus, but no audio or video...pls hlp nwb!
Hello,
Got the SageTV w/Placeshifter. All setup and running well with Sage, but PS is not working properly for me remotely. I get the connection correctly and can navigate the menus, however I get no video OR audio if I try to view any video (live or recorded) SageTV is running on WinXP, everything up-to-date. I'm using PS as follows: Linux Mandriva 2007.1 on my laptop, ssh to my linux virtual machine running on the XP Sage box with port forwarding setup so that when my laptop connects to localhost:31099 it is forwarded via my virtual linux server to 31099 on the XP/Sage machine. It appears to SageTV as a local connection, and as such does not request authentication. Any ideas? I've tried updating my video drivers on the linux laptop, and also setting my path to use the mplayer in the sage folder. |

Have you tried it with a real remote connection, instead of faking it as a local connection? If it sees PS as being local, it may not be doing any transcoding.

I did give that a shot, however I couldn't connect. Only a couple ports are open for outgoing from my work location, ssh being one of them. I figure the port is blocked. (No, this is not for screwing off at work, just is my test location...)
Is there a way to force it to transcode for local connections as well? Thanks, -Stephen |

Resolved!
Problem was with mplayer. I wasn't getting any errors until I tried to run the copy of mplayer in the sagetv directory by itself, which generated an error that it was missing libfaac.so.0
I dug around online until I found a RPM that took care of installing this shared library and, voila! Runs quite well! |
