Is this an upgrade for me? AMD 5000+ x2, x1250 w/hdmi, other goodies for $499

If you have an Aldi near you, this might be a good deal on an sage server. Supposedly $499 starting 9/30. If you go, bring cash only, no credit cards. My current client is the last pc that Aldi sold, been rock solid.

Here's my question:

My server is in my sig. It runs well, although it has the stutters, but I haven't put much effort into that. I am sort of in need of a client pc to replace my current P4 2.8ghz with a 6600GT that also stutters. The client will also be used for normal pc stuff as well as some gaming, although I'm not a frame rate nazi. If I pick this pc up, would I get more bang for my buck to use it as the server, and convert the old server to a client? I am specifically looking for thoughts on 8500gt vs integrated x1250 as well as my 4300 vs the 5000+ in terms of performance. I own a full XP copy, so OS doesn't matter if Vista issues crop up.

The 8500GT should make for a good client system. The only issue is the nvidia drivers are hard to get to work right for smooth playback. I would make that system the client, though you could just as easily move the 8500GT to the new system if the graphics didn't work for you, and stick a cheap $20 PCIE card in the server (it doesn't do video display, so who cares what card is in it right?).

The 4300 overclocked to 3 Ghz should be faster than the 5000+, esp since the new system probably can't be overclocked.

PS Don't run the server on Vista - Sage doesn't like that very much.

Already learned the hard way about vista, it didn't like my MVPs.

Actually, my server is also used for viewing purposes. I just don't want to add a fourth pc (sage server, sage client/office pc for the basement theater room, and a beater in the kitchen for web surfing/email) to the house, there's already too much going on. Anyway, I think you've answered my question as far as if it would be better than my current server. I know my client probably isn't going to work out with the stuttering 6600gt, so mayb i will replace it with this.
