How to determine why a show did not record?

I nearly missed seeing the Big Brother finale last night because it did not record. I finished watching a previously recorded show at around 9:35 and went to watch Big Brother, but I saw it was not listed in my recordings list. It was still showing in my scheduled recordings list as to be recorded from 9pm-10pm, thought it was not recording.

I do have a log file from the server.

I am running SageTV V6.0.19.120.

Does anyone know how I can see why it did not record, so I can make sure I didn't screw anything up, and miss any other shows?

Since you have a log, you could send that to support; maybe they could see what happened with that show. There is a FAQ about why a Favorite might not be scheduled to record... but that probably won't apply since you said it was in the schedule.

I had this problem when I upgraded from version 5 to 6.1. I also had a problem where the show limit was being ignored. It appears that I have fixed both of these by removing those favorites and readding them. Probably some sort of database conversion problem during the upgrade.

As I thought, I did screw something up.

I modified the parameters for the favorite on Sunday night to add padding due to the late running football game. I didn't undo the padding changes, after Sunday's recording.

I had added a 48 minute start padding and a 50 minute end padding.

I had a favorite recording scheduled immediately after Big Brother on the same channel, NCIS.

I guess the scheduler determined the overlap, and decided it could not record big brother, but it never gave me a conflict.
